If you want it, you can't have it

Now, this Upanishad says this: 'the whole world is the garment of the Lord. Renounce it and receive it back as the gift of God.' What does it mean? It means that as long as these things were important to me, I couldn't have them. I beat my brains out for thirty years to get the things I thought I was born without, and ended up at the bottom of the snake pit. I wasn't a fast-buck artist; nor was I a confidence man. Then I put in twenty-five years trying to add to, and all the things I beat my brains out to get are mine, and infinitely more so. When they're unimportant to me, they belong to me. 'The whole world is the garment of the Lord. Renounce it and receive it back as the gift of God.' It's beautiful!
