Emilie Cady,
a New York City doctor and metaphysician, wrote in her 1903 classic, Lessons in Truth, ‘Remember this: desire
in the heart for anything is God’s sure promise sent beforehand to indicate
that it is yours already in the limitless realm of supply, and whatever you want
you can have for the taking.’
Whatever we
desire is already headed our way, she says. ‘It is the first approach of the
thing itself striking you that makes you desire it or even think of it at all.’
Cady is
saying our will is God’s will. It bubbles up from the divine within us. There
is no deity watching us and making plans for our lives. If we are one with all
that is, if we are God in human form, how could our wills be separate or
different?’
